How to remove radiator fan off 01 durango?

I need to know how to remove the radiator fan off 01 durango. I want to attach the fan leads directly to the battery to see if it's spinning. I don't want to let the truck run to see if it comes on by itself because the engine would be too hot to work on...thanks
